Dictionary

The Oroko Dictionary 1.0 is now available at http://friesen.missionsites.com/MediaView.asp?id=107! Download it on your Android phone (must be version 4.01 or higher).

What you need to know:

1) Oroko words are listed by their root or base form (without prefixes or suffixes).

  • Verbs are listed by their basic command form. For example, to dance is listed as "saka", not "ɗisaka".
  • Nouns are listed in their most basic spoken form, which includes their class marker. For example, dancer/dance is "mosaki" (mo- class marker + saka "dance" + -i noun ending).
 2) Dialects are indicated with the following codes:

      e          Ekombe
      m         Mbonge
      n          Ngolo
      i           Bima
      t           Batanga

Edits will continue to be made as additional data is collected and verified.
